When packing for a trip to Hurghada, it’s important to remember that you’re heading to the coast of the Red Sea. So first and foremost you’ll want to pack items that are suitable for a beach destination.

This means plenty of swimsuits, sunscreen, and hats to protect yourself from the sun. In the winter months, you’ll also want to bring comfortable, lightweight clothing.

This can easily be layered in case the weather changes or cools down during the evening.

In addition to your day-to-day clothing, there are a few other essential things to pack for a trip to Hurghada

Here is our list of some of the most important items to remember:

  • Passport and visas: You’d think this was obvious, but people still manage to get to the airport without them! Be sure to bring your passport and any necessary visas with you, as you will need them to enter and exit the country. It’s also a good idea to make copies of your passport and visas and leave them with a trusted friend or family member. Or perhaps keep a screenshot on your phone, in case you lose the originals.
  • Money and credit cards: Despite us increasingly becoming a cashless society, it’s still a good idea to have some local currency on hand when traveling. Not everywhere takes a card. Be sure to exchange some money before you leave for Hurghada. You may also want to bring one or two credit cards with you in case you need to make any larger purchases or in case of an emergency.
  • Medications: If you are currently taking any medications, be sure to bring an adequate supply with you. It’s also a good idea to bring a first-aid kit with some basic medical supplies, such as pain relievers, allergy medication, and bandages.
  • Beach towels: As mentioned earlier, Hurghada is a beach destination, so it’s well worth checking what’s included at your accommodation as you may want to pack some beach towels
  • Sunscreen and hats: Hurghada is known for its sunny weather, and during the summer months it gets very hot. So protect your skin, and make sure to bring plenty of sunscreen with a high SPF to give protection against the strong rays. A wide-brimmed hat can also help keep the sun off your face and neck.
  • Swimsuits and beachwear: With its beautiful beaches and crystal-clear waters, Hurghada is a great place to swim, snorkel, and dive. Bring along several swimsuits so you can change into a dry one after a dip in the sea.
  • Comfortable walking shoes: Although you may be dreaming of spending days relaxing on a sun lounger, there is also lots to see and do here. If you’re going to take a walk into the town, or do some of the activities on offer, then it’s well worth bringing a pair of comfortable shoes that you can wear all day without getting sore feet.
  • Light, breathable clothing: This part of the world can be hot and humid, so it’s best to pack light, breathable clothing made of natural fabrics like cotton or linen. We’d strongly advise against wearing dark colours, which can absorb the sun’s rays and make you feel even warmer.
